Open-source licenses and source code offer
Last updated: 3 November 2026
YoyliOS is built on Debian GNU/Linux and includes many free and open-source programs, such as the Linux kernel, GNU tools, Firefox ESR, GCompris, Snap!, PhET simulations, Ollama and the Qwen AI model. Each program is licensed to you under its own license, including the GNU General Public License (GPL) versions 2 and 3, the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL), the Mozilla Public License 2.0, the Apache License 2.0, the MIT license and the SIL Open Font License. Nothing in the YoyliOS license limits your rights under these licenses.
The full list of components, versions and license texts is included in every copy of YoyliOS under Parents › About & Licenses and in the folder /usr/share/kidix/licenses.
Where to get the source code
- Debian packages: the exact source code of every Debian package in YoyliOS is published by Debian at sources.debian.org and snapshot.debian.org, and can be downloaded with
apt-get source PACKAGE. - Snap! (AGPL-3.0), version 12.3.9: github.com/jmoenig/Snap.
- Ollama (MIT) and its bundled libraries, version 0.40.13: github.com/ollama/ollama.
Written offer
For at least three (3) years after we last distribute the YoyliOS version you received, we will give anyone who asks a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code of every program in YoyliOS licensed under the GPL, LGPL or AGPL, including any changes and build scripts we used, by download or on a common storage medium, for no more than our cost of performing the transfer. Send your request to yoylios.app@gmail.com or YoyliOS, with the subject “YoyliOS source request” and the build number shown in Parents › About & Licenses.
Our changes
YoyliOS does not change the program code of the bundled free software. It adds configuration files (for example browser policies, game settings and menu entries), removes or edits some data files, and adds its own programs that run alongside them. These configuration and build files are included in the source offer above.
